To celebrate the Year for Priests – which has just ended – children from our local Catholic primary schools were asked for their “comments”.  Here are a few interesting ones!

They wear glasses so they can see into your soul...

A priest is very religious, he prays every day, he helps the poor and needy and he is never mean or greedy...

In Father David’s spare time he might hear confessions...

Father Bob probably goes to Tescos or Asda. He might buy stuff like bread, tea bags, sugar, salt, cereals, milk, butter and maybe biscuits...

At weekends they go to church to do Mass and then they can watch a film with priest friends and also order a pizza...

A priest is a person who gives up his life for Jesus. At Mass it’s like Jesus himself climbs into the priest’s body and then does all the work...

I think that in their free time, they wear the same clothes as others, but wear holy beads and rosaries...

The priest is a man whose name is Dan.  He gave up his life which means no wife...

My friend the priest is very small. Mr friend the priest is so, so cool...

He is loyal and will always be on time. When he sings the songs of God, he would never dare mime...

The priest cannot get married because if the priest dies, the land and the church will go to the wife...

A priest is a hard-working man and in the rules a priest is not allowed to get married because it could distract the priest who has to use all his energy to help people, and not to stay at home with a baby...

Father David I hope you are ok and you are the best priest I know.  You made me a Catholic when I was a baby. I am glad I am a Catholic. So glad you respect me a lot and a lot and I respect you a lot and a lot.  You are a special priest, you are like family to me...

Father Andrew is my priest he normally wears white. He is polite, nice and also kind. We always respect him. The church is Catholic so is Father Andrew.

Who’s the boss? God’s the boss. The almighty and powerful. But the boss of the church is the priest and the priest only.
