Advent

The winged lion, symbol of St. MarkAdvent is the beginning of the Church’s year. This year ‘Year B’ we listen to the Gospel of Mark during Advent and on the Ordinary Sundays of the Year.

Mark was the disciple who assisted Paul, Barnabas and Peter in their missionary work. Traditionally he was the companion of Peter in Rome when he wrote his Gospel.

Today we hear a call to STAY AWAKE. Advent is a first a reminder that we are waiting for Christ to return in glory. When Christ comes will he find us asleep?

MORNING PRAYER

Let us begin the year by praising God; singing the Psalms and praying for all our needs. During Advent there is Morning Prayer in the crypt at 6:30am every weekday. It is an early start!  But necessary for those who have to go to work immediately afterwards.

CAROL SERVICE

On Friday the 16th December there will be an evening of reflections and carols. It will begin at 8pm in the church. Refreshments will be available for 6:45pm in the Crypt. Tickets are £10 each and £25 family. The proceeds will be used for the works to extend the Crypt.  Tickets are available on the door or in advance from Vincent Harrington.

ADULT CATECHESIS continues Monday and Thursday at 8pm in the Crypt. It is not too late to come.
